Training for Tue, 27 Apr

AM: 5.07M EZ in 36:20 (7:10 avg) + 10 min strength.

PM: 12.0 in 1:22 (6:50 avg) w/ 4 x 1M in 5:32, 32, 31, 30 w/ 90s rest. An encouraging session – especially since I haven’t run faster than 5:45 pace in almost two months. I felt pretty good; wasn’t working too hard, just hard enough. As I was leaving the track to cool down, my Zune kicked out “Voodoo Child” by Jimi Hendrix and I couldn’t have picked a better song to match my attitude.

On a side note, I have to say that my Zune has done a wonderful job recently shuffling me some some great mixes. Of course, there have been a few mis-steps. Earlier this year, it had a bad habit of playing Led Zeppelin at the most awful times. How many times can I hear “Stairway to Heaven,” just as I’m feeling my very worst for a particular run? Recently though, the mixes have somehow just matched up. Today, it was Gogol Bordello gypsy punk-ing me through my last mile repeat; this morning it was Rakim telling me, “Don’t Sweat The Technique,” as I struggled to wake up during my morning run. Vampire Weekend last night, and a lot of Dessa spitting hot fire during my Sunday 17 miler…what will tomorrow bring?

Daily Total: 17M
