The boys at WBT always have something interesting to say. But I noticed a few weeks ago that they were publishing other people besides the veteran writers on the masthead. I was tickled to see Randy Brown (aka Charlie Sherpa, author of the collection of war haiku FOB Haiku) publish a great poem with WBT recently, and I highly recommend you check it out: New Poetry by Randy Brown – Wrath-Bearing Tree. Take note that they are looking for submissions across all genres of writing, so keep WBT on your radar.

Hot Link: Teresa Fazio on the Marines United Scandal

In case you’ve missed it, a big scandal hit the Marine Corps a few weeks back regarding the rank misogyny of a Facebook page called “Marines United.” While ostensibly a support group for active and separated Marines, it also facilitated the sharing of inappropriate photos of women Marines.

Teresa Fazio is a former Marine officer, and one hell of a writer (her prizewinning short story in Consequence is worth the subscription) I had the pleasure of meeting at AWP. I recommend you read her opinion piece, which details some of her experiences as woman in the Corps, and recommends a fairly simple, common sense way-ahead: Marine Speaks Out Against Military Sexual Harassment – Rolling Stone

If you haven’t read Andria Williams’ The Longest Night, you should. If you did not know she also runs a blog, now you do. If you did not know she’s the spouse of an active serviceman and runs MSBR to elevate that, you know, other half of the military experience, you are now thrice-blessed with advice and knowledge.

Check out Mary Doyle’s smart interview of Susanne Aspley on MSBR:
