In case you’ve missed it, a big scandal hit the Marine Corps a few weeks back regarding the rank misogyny of a Facebook page called “Marines United.” While ostensibly a support group for active and separated Marines, it also facilitated the sharing of inappropriate photos of women Marines.

Teresa Fazio is a former Marine officer, and one hell of a writer (her prizewinning short story in Consequence is worth the subscription) I had the pleasure of meeting at AWP. I recommend you read her opinion piece, which details some of her experiences as woman in the Corps, and recommends a fairly simple, common sense way-ahead: Marine Speaks Out Against Military Sexual Harassment – Rolling Stone

For your Sunday enjoyment, and only a little because I appear to have a man-crush on Brian, check out the op-ed that ran two weeks ago in the New York Times. I’m not going to lie: it hit home for me, since it addresses those of us who have stayed in and continue to go to and return from war.
