PM Workout, 8 Mar 11

2.5M WU/ 12 x 400 w/ 200 jog/2.5M CD with the Whitis Crew. Hammies and calves were unexpectedly sore from the AM workout; between that and not having racing flats or spikes right now, I didn’t feel very smooth. But, the splits came without too much effort: pretty much all between 79-81 (5:16-5:24 pace). 200 jogs were all < 60s…I was thinking during the workout that a year and a half ago, this would have been a pretty tough workout vs an easy workout for easing back into a training schedule. Huh.

So, why haven’t I broken 17 for 5k? Yeah, looks like it has something to do with that abnormally large melon resting atop my shoulders…time to throw on some spikes, shut down the cranium, and let it flow.

2M warmup, followed by: 12 min of 5x Deadlift/10x Push-press w/ 95lbs; then team ladder (1 through 10 through 1) step-ups with 2x 25lb kettlebell, rest with KBs in rack position; then team ball slam ladder w/ 16lb med ball (1 through 10 through 1), rest with ball above head, arms locked; then Big Ten Ladder (10 hrough 1 through 10) of pushups/situps. That’d be a total of 50xDL/100xPP, 190 x step-ups, 190 x ball slams, 109 x pushups, 109 x situps.

After a couple of down weeks, trying to get back into the swing of things this week. Planning on 12×400 with Whitis this afternoon…whew!

Thanks go out to my SERE troops for joining me for the pain!

It’s Been A While…

It’s been a crazy couple of months; lots of ups and downs. Some major ups, and big-time downers riding the sine wave of life…I’m going to get some posts up this week, ridiculous that I’ve been neglecting the blog for over two months.

Ups: Made a major life/career decision. Raised $110 more for MC. Put in some great training.

Downs: Pops had a medical emergency overseas. Seriously disappointing races. Plantar fasciitis has gotten really bad. Work and related travel have been simply awful.

More to follow…
